Just Say No to New Year’s Resolutions!

Millions have taken to covering pages in journals detailing what they hope to achieve in 2018. Some resolutions are carried over from previous years. Who started this trend anyway and dictated that the first day of the year would also signify when we reset our lives? Now the pressure is on to live up to a wish list. How many of us actually execute what we set out to do?  New Year’s resolutions, for me, proved to be an exercise in futility.  I think my failure was due to seeing the year stretched out before me and doubting that I had enough stamina to persist.  There have been years when I wrote resolutions down and not look at it again until January of the following year, out of sight and out of mind. That does not mean that I was not successful at achieving goals or completing tasks, I can honestly say none of my accomplishments were the result of what I set out to do the first of the year.  I realized that my life begin anew each day I open my eyes and embark on a new day.  A reset can happen that moment I make a decision, change direction, or alter my mindset.  Yes, change can be happen overnight. Therefore, you do not have to wait for the clock to strike on the brink of a new year to redesign your reality.  Change can happen any time, any day of the year.
